TO THE MOON AND THE SUN is the title of the 2019 LP of the Reggaenauts headed by Captain Tom Lugo, two decades out on their voyage aboard spaceship JAMARAM through the Reggae Universe in search of new galaxies.
The LP “To the Moon and the Sun” is a departure from the usual colourful style- mix of anything that gets legs moving in previous albums. Here JAMARAM put the musical focus on Reggae, though there’s still a wide variety of playing styles, ranging from bass-heavy modern roots (Check Them Out, What Tomorrow Brings, Love Hurts So Well), old-school ska (New Shoes), eighties dancehall (Sick Situation) to spacey-dubby tunes (Little Dancer, Diamond Girl, Rise, Out of the Woods) and also songwriter material (Outside, Make It Through the Night, Little Boy). As far as content goes, many of the new songs are about relationships between people generally, though often specifically about Love, while others relate to issues such as state control or surveillance through state or multinational organizations; anxiety and getting over it; migration and critical reflections on our western life style and mind set.
